II. AGE (as on 1.1.2003)
For Scale I : Minimum 21 Years - Maximum 30 Years
For Scales II & III : Maximum 35 Years
* Relaxation in age limit : Upper age limit is relaxable by maximum -
(i) 5 years for SC/ST candidates;
(ii) 3 years for OBC candidates;
(iii) 10 years for PH for recruitments against identified posts only
(iv) The upper age limit for Ex-Serviceman shall be relaxed by the lengths of military service increased by three years. The resultant age after deducting his period of service from his actual age should not exceed the prescribed age limit by more than three years. However, the maximum age limit for Security Officers is 40 years.

IV. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
NATIONALITY/ CITIZENSHIP:
A candidate must be either i) a Citizen of India or ii) a subject of Nepal or iii) subject of Bhutan or iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intension of permanently settling in India. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) & (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India. A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination/ interview conducted by the Bank but on final selection the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India.
V. MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (as on 1.01.2003)
For Specialist Officers in JMGS-I
1. Risk Management/Investment & Treasury, Para Banking (MerchantBanking)/Credit/Inspection/International Banking, Accounts
First Class Degree from a recognized University in the relevant field of specialization or Post Graduate Degree or Post Graduate Diploma (as awarded by reputed Institution like IIMs etc.) in relevant field of specialization or CA or ICWA or CFA (from ICFAI, Hyderabad i.e. Institute of Chartered Financial Analyst of India) or MBA with specialization in Finance or Banking from recognized University or Institute recognized by AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education).
2. Marketing Officer: First Class degree from a recognised University in the relevant field of specialisation or Post Graduate Degree/ Diploma(as awarded by reputed Institutions like IIMS etc.) with Marketing as special subject from a recognised University or Institute with recognition by AICTE.
3. DIT Officers: First Class B.E./B.Tech (Computer Science) or MCA (Master of Computer Application) or Post Graduate Degree in Computer Science/Computer Management from a recognized University/Institution with recognition by AICTE or First Class Graduate from a recognized University having passed DOEACC's "B" level.
4. Law Officers: First Class Degree in Law from a recognized University.
5. Economists and Statisticians: First Class Graduate or Post Graduate Degree in Economics or Statistics from a recognized University.
6. Hindi Officers: First Class Post Graduate Degree in Hindi with English as one of the subjects at Graduation level or First Class Post Graduate Degree in Sanskrit with Hindi and English as subjects at Degree level.
7. Engineer (Civil): First Class Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University.
8. Security Officers: First Class Graduate or Post Graduate Degree from a recognized University with 5 years experience as an Officer either in the Army/Police (not below the rank of an Inspector) or Para Military force.
For Specialist Officers in MMGS-II & MMGS-III
9 &10. DIT Officers: First Class B.E./B.Tech (Electronics/Communication/Computer Science) or MCA (Master of Computer Application) or Post Graduate Degree in Computer Science/Computer Management from a recognized University/Institution with recognition by AICTE or First Class Graduate from a recognized University having passed DOEACC's "B" level.Should have skills on Net-working equipment and Technologies such as Routers, Switches, RAS, ISDN, ADSL, WLL, CDMA, VOIP, VSAT and Protocols like TCP/IP, SNMP, POP-3, IMAP, SMTP, HTTP, Network Security Technology like Encryption and Firewalls. Exposure to WAN and experience of working with Network Management Software will be an added advantage.
VI. EXPERIENCE (as on 1.01.2003)For Posts 9 & 10 - DIT Officers :
(For Specialist Officers in MMGS-II & MMGS-III)

For Recruitment in Scale II - two years' experience in the field of Networking.
For Recruitment in Scale III - four years' experience in the field of Networking.

Note: Persons working in Banks with similar work profile and skills with 2/3 years' experience in Scale-I/II may apply. Preference will be given to candidates possessing CISCO certification.
VII. SELECTION PROCEDURE
For posts at Sr. Nos.1 to 8 i.e. for JMGS-I, the selection of Officers will be based on (i) Written Test and (ii) Personal Interview. Those candidates who have secured the minimum qualifying marks stipulated for Written Test and rank sufficiently high on aggregate shall be called for interview in the ratio of 1:3 in the case of general category and 1:5 in the case of reserved categories. The written Test will be objective and/or descriptive. The questions will be printed in Hindi/English and in case of descriptive type of question the candidates will have option to write their answers in Hindi or English.
For posts at Sr. Nos.9 and 10 i.e. for MMGS-II & MMGS-III, the selection will be made on the basis of Interviews. However, the Bank reserves the right to conduct written test and/or Group Discussion in case the number of eligible applicants is reasonably high, in addition to Interviews.
Merely satisfying the eligibility norms does not entitle a candidate to be called for Test/G.D.s or Interview.
VIII. WRITTEN TEST CENTERS

Bank, however, reserves the right to cancel any of the Centres and/ or add some other Centres, depending upon the response, administrative feasibility, etc. The Bank also reserves the right to allot the candidate to any of the Centres other than the one he/she has opted for.
IX. APPLICATION FEE AND POSTAGE CHARGES (NON - REFUNDABLE) :
(a) Demand Draft or Banker's Cheque of Rs.25/- (Only postage) for candidates belonging to SC/ST/ and/or Physically Handicapped candidates
(b) Demand Draft or Banker's Cheque of Rs.145/-(Application Fee Rs.120/- plus Postage Rs.25/-)for candidates other than SC/ST and/or Phisically Handicapped candidates. Application fee should be sent by Demand Draft(MICR)/Banker's Cheque issued by scheduled commercial Bank favouring "UCO Bank" Recruitment Account 2002 payable at Mumbai only.
(c) Only candidates belonging to SC/ST/ and/or Physically Handicapped categories claiming exemption of application fee of Rs.120/- should submit attested Photostat copy regarding Caste/Handicap issued by the Competent Authority without which their application will be rejected.
X. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
(a) The Bank takes no responsibility for any delay in receipt or loss in postal transit of any application or communication.
(b) The applications are to be properly and completely filled in and sent strictly in accordance with the prescribed format given below. Candidates other than SC/ST/PH should not enclose any Certificates or copies thereof with the application. Their candidature will be considered on the strength of the information declared in the application. If at any stage it is found that any information furnished in the application is false/incorrect or, if according to the Bank, the candidate does not satisfy the eligibility criteria, his candidature/appointment is liable to be cancelled/terminated.
(c) Instructions pertaining to engaging scribe for select PH candidates.
i) The Candidate will have to arrange his own scribe at his own cost.
ii) The accademic Qualification of the scribe should be one grade lower than        that required for the post.
iii) The scribe should be from an academic stream other than that of the candidate. The scribe should possess 50% or lesser marks in his own academic stream.
iv) Both, the candidate as well as the scribe will have to be a suitable undertaking, confirming that the scribe fullfills all the stipulated eligibility criteria for a scribe as mentioned above. Further, in case it latter transpires that he did not fulfill any of the laid-down eligibility criteria or supressed meterial facts, the candidature of the appilicant will stand cancelled irrespective of the result of the written test.
v) Candidates who use a scribe shall be eligible for extra time of 20 minutes  for every hour of the examination.
d) Before applying for the post, the candidate should ensure that he/she fulfils the eligibility and other norms mentioned in this advertisement. The Bank would admit to the written examination all the candidates applying with the requisite fee and/or postage charges as applicable and shall determine their eligibility only at the latter stage i.e. while calling them for Personal Interviews. The Bank would be free to reject any application, at any stage of the Recruitment Process, if the candidate is found ineligible for the post for which he/she has applied. The decision of the Bank on qualification, experience and other eligibility norms shall be final and shall be binding on the candidates.
e) An application not accompanied by requisite Application Fee and/or Postage Charges, relevant Certificates in respect of the Caste, Category etc. (only in respect of SC/ST/PH candidates) or not in the prescribed format or received after the stipulated last date or not signed by the candidate or incomplete in any respect will NOT be entertained.
f) Applications once made will not be allowed to be withdrawn, nor will the fees/postage be held in reserve for any subsequent examination.
g) A recent, recognizable passport size photograph, should be firmly pasted on the application and should be signed across by the candidate.
h) Only candidates willing to serve anywhere in India should apply.
i) Decision of the Bank in all matters regarding eligibility of the candidate, the stages at which such scrutiny of eligibility is to be undertaken, the documents to be produced for the purpose of conduct of interview, selection etc. and any other matter relating to recruitment will be final and binding on the candidates. No correspondence or personal enquiries shall be entertained by the Bank in this behalf.
j) Any resulting dispute arising out of this advertisement shall be subject to the sole jurisdiction of the Courts situated at Kolkata.
k) No travelling allowance is payable to candidates who are called for the written test. However, successful candidates in the test only for the post of Scale-II and III who are called for interview will be paid actual first class to and fro Rail/Bus fare by the shortest route on production of evidence of travel, i.e Railway/Bus Receipt/Ticket(s).
XI. HOW TO APPLY
a) All eligible candidates should apply in the prescribed Application format given below to reach IBPS on or before the last date for receipt of applications. Applications received after the last date will not be considered.
(b) The Sr.No. and Name of the Post and Centre of Examination should be written clearly on the top of the envelope.
(c) If a candidate is eligible and desires to apply for more than one post, he should make a separate application for each post with requisite fee and/or postage. Applications should be sent in separate envelopes. A single application for more than one post or two or more applications sent in one envelope shall be treated as invalid.
(d) APPLICATIONS COMPLETE IN ALL RESPECTS SHOULD BE

XII. LAST DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS
THE APPLICATIONS SHOULD REACH THE DIRECTOR, INSTITUTE OF BANKING PERSONNEL SELECTION , MUMBAI ON OR BEFORE 08.03.2003. For the candidates staying abroad and for those posting applications from Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshdweep, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh Division of J & K State, Lahaul and Spiti district and Pangi Sub Division of Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh, the last date for receipt of applications will be 20.03.2003. An application received after the last date will not be entertained.
Bank will not be responsible for loss of application in transit or for rejection of application because of non-receipt of application on or before the stipulated last date.
XIII. CALL LETTERS FOR THE WRITTEN EXAMINATION
The date of the Written Examination is tentatively fixed as 25.05.2003. However, it will be intimated in the Call Letter alongwith the Centre/Venue for the Test, well in advance of the date of the Written Examination.
All eligible candidates will be issued call letters by the Bank at the correspondence address given by the candidate in their application form, which will be sent by post. An eligible candidate who does not receive the call letter by 18.05.2003, should contact the respective Regional office, UCO Bank as given below indicating his her name, address and details of Demand Draft for taking immediate remedial action.
